Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

Award Amount: $28,000.00 over 4 years

Who can apply?

  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Graduating secondary level students and those currently studying towards a first university degree or diploma in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Involvement in voluntary humanitarian work.
  • Maintain a satisfactory academic standing and continued involvement in voluntary humanitarian and community work.

  • Three (3) referee forms
  • An official transcript of the past two years of schooling
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, attending a Canadian high school, secondary school or Cégep (in Quebec)
  • Must possess at least two of the three following attributes: Outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership, and academic excellence
  • Financial need (planning to apply for financial assistance for undergraduate study at university)
  • Must be enrolling in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) faculty at a minimum of one of 20 select Canadian universities participating in Schulich Leader Scholarships. For a list of participating universities, visit the website.
  • Canadian Schulich Leader Nominees are selected by their high schools, secondary schools and Cégeps (in Quebec) from graduating students who are intending to study STEM subjects at a participating university.
  • All participating universities are responsible for selecting the Schulich Leaders for their respective institution.
  • If you are interested, please seek nomination at your school by asking your school counsellor.
  • Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
  • Plan to be a full-time student, in the next academic school year, at a recognized university, community college, technical institute or other post-secondary institution for advanced learning
  • Demonstrate high ideals and qualities of citizenship, and not have previously received a bursary from the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund
  • Female in grade 12 who is considering careers in the exciting fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), business or underrepresented trades
  • Accepted to post-secondary institution in Winnipeg
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Community involvement
  • Connection with a United Way funded organization
  • Financial Need
  • For students majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry
  • For students majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry
  • You are eligible to apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program if you are a Status Indian*, a Non-status Indian, Inuit or Metis and meet these criteria:
  • A permanent resident or citizen of Canada
  • Have applied or are currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada
  • Must maintain a full course load that leads to a recognized degree, certificate or diploma and maintain good academic standing (RBC requests confirmation of your full course load and good academic standing at the beginning of every fall and winter semester)
  • Have at least two years remaining in a post-secondary academic program
  • Must remain in the program of study the scholarship is awarded for and maintain good academic standing
  • Require financial assistance to pursue post-secondary education
  • Completed application (available online)
  • Copy of your most current academic transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or member of your community

Mark & Dorothy Danzker Scholarship for Excellence

Deadline: February

Award Amount: $10,000

Who can apply? 

  • Awarded to a Jewish student entering or enrolled in a post-graduate degree program with preference given to persons studying at a Manitoba educational institution. This award is based on academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.
  • Must be a full-time (60% course load) student entering or enrolled in a post-graduate degree program with preference given to persons studying at a Manitoba educational institution.
