TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership

Deadline:  November 
Award Amount: Twenty TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their last year of high school who have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year and have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship has a value of up to $70,000 and includes up to $10,000 for tuition per year (for up to a maximum of four years) and $7,500 a year for living expenses (for up to a maximum of four years). They also offer paid summer employment, mentorship opportunities and networking opportunities and more 

Who can apply?

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are open to students across Canada who:

  • Have demonstrated community leadership
  • Are in the final year of high school (outside Quebec) or CEGEP (in Quebec)
  • Have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year

How do I apply?

You can apply online using our digital application form or print your application and mail it to us by the application deadline.

Submit the following:

  • A 600-word essay describing your community leadership experience (three copies).
  •  A letter of recommendation from your school
  • Two letters of support from community groups
  • Your academic transcript
  • You also have the option of including: A 250-word essay (three copies) describing your family and personal life, for example your family’s employment or economic situation.
  • 1 250-word essay about your life experiences if you have taken a year or more away from high school or CEGEP.

  University of Manitoba Leader of Tomorrow 

Deadline: November

Award Amount: Each scholarship is valued at $16,000, allocated over four years of study.

Who can apply?

BMO Financial Group Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships will be offered to students who:

  • have achieved a high school average of at least 90 percent calculated on the basis of results in (or equivalent courses for Canadian students outside of Manitoba):
    • English 30S or Français 30S and Anglais 30S
    • Mathematics 30S (either pre-calculus 30S or applied 30S only)
    • the highest marks in three of Biology 30S, Chemistry 30S, Physics 30S, History 30F, Geography 30S, Computer Science 30s, or a language at the 30S level other than those accepted for (a) above;
  • have demonstrated evidence of leadership qualities and future potential;
  • have demonstrated evidence of a high level of communication skills;
  • have a record of community involvement (e.g., school, local community city-wide, regional, national, international);
  • have demonstrated evidence of special abilities other than those shown by academic results (e.g., artistic, athletic, or linguistic skills, literary accomplishments)
  • complete a University of Manitoba application for admission by the December 1 deadline, including payment of application fee.

Queen's University QuARMS Scholarship 

Deadline: November

Award Amount: $36,000 ($9,000 per year, renewable for four years provided a first-class standing is maintained)

Who can apply?

Applicants demonstrate:

  • Superior academic ability (above 90% average)
  • Creative and original thinking
  • Proven leadership qualities
  • See your counsellor if interested
  • Nomination is by high school principals and submission of a detailed application form. Students must be entering the first year of any undergraduate program at Queen's to qualify for a Chancellor's Scholarship.
