Surveillance and Annual Inspection

Regular inspection and maintenance of all asbestos-containing materials within Pembina Trails School Division's buildings is a key component of the Asbestos Management Program.  Pinchin Environmental has been contracted to conduct an annual review of the asbestos in each facility.   The inspection process does not require the collection of additional bulk samples.  It  must however, take into consideration all of the factors originally considered during the initial survey and shall concentrate on any signs of deterioration, delimitation or disturbance.

Once completed the school division is given a list of deficiencies with specific requirements to repair or remove any damaged asbestos.  The repair and removal work is then contracted out over the summer or Christmas breaks when school is out.  After completion of the work, the areas are re-inspected by the Safety Officer to ensure that they have met the requirements of the Asbestos Management Program.
