Music
Music is an important part
of the development of the whole child. Beaumont School is committed to
providing creative musical experiences for every child. Music is taught three
times a school day cycle for a total of ninety minutes per cycle by a music
specialist.
Through the Orff process,
our students enjoy singing, movement, instrumental playing and listening
activities. All of our children play “Orff” barred instruments and a variety of
other classroom percussion instruments to enhance their music learning and
creativity. Recorder is introduced in grades three and four. Singing games and
kinesthetic learning are also a part of their repertoire.
There are extracurricular opportunities offered throughout the year including choir and recorder ensemble. Many of our students attend the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s Adventures in Music program as audience members and performers. Our students host musical presentations such as the Remembrance Day assembly, holiday concerts and a spring musical.
The music program provides an opportunity for students to experience and understand how music is a part of culture and a form of human expression that is unique and intrinsic to societies around the world.
