Prairie Sunrise school community steps up for Terry Fox Foundation

Congratulations to the Prairie Sunrise school students and staff who are one of the top fundraisers for Terry Fox in Winnipeg this year. Prairie Sunrise, a kindergarten to grade 5 school with about 350 students, presented a cheque for over $11,500 to the Terry Fox Foundation in a presentation on Thursday, October 2, 2025, followed with the official run, walk and roll through the community.

“We’re running in honour of Amelia, a Prairie Sunrise student who bravely fought her own battle with cancer and sadly passed away this summer,” said Andrea Loepp, Principal of Prairie Sunrise School. “Amelia showed incredible strength and spirit, and we are privileged to dedicate this year’s event to her memory.” Amelia's parents and two brothers joined students and staff for the event which included dedication of a pair of trees in memory of Amelia's time at the school.

Loepp said the original school fundraising goal was $1,500 but the total board just kept growing, thanks to the amazing support of the community and efforts of students and staff.
