Bonnycastle School Honours National Truth and Reconciliation Day

On Monday, September 29th, our school came together to honour National Truth and Reconciliation Day. As part of our learning, during the past week we read Little Shoes by local author David A. Robertson, a story that helped us reflect on the importance of remembering the experiences of Indigenous children in residential schools.

Classrooms also took time to learn about the meaning of Orange Shirt Day and why we say Every Child Matters. Students shared thoughtful discussions about kindness, respect, and the importance of ensuring all children feel valued and included.

To mark the day as a community, the whole school participated in an Every Child Matters Walk around the school yard. Walking together in our orange shirts was a powerful reminder of unity and our ongoing commitment to truth, reconciliation, and hope for a better future.
